Hi all! Boy, have we had a busy month! As I've told many of our friends, I think we may have hit an all-new level of "tired."
That doesn't mean that things are bad, though! :-) In fact, the busier the boys keep us, the happier we are with their progress. Let me catch you up on a few things.
First of all, Corban continues to progress well. He is still having some un-observable seizures, so we're switching meds yet again, but he has shown great improvement even without a complete hush of the "white noise." We hope to find a good balance of supressing the random firing while allowing his brain to develop new pathways around the damaged part.
Corban's also had vision tests and a visit from a vision specialist. Though his eyesight at present is very poor, he does respond to things and we see from his body language what he likes and what interests him. - Corban is SO cute when he gets excited about something! - It will take a lot of patience and slow, steady work on our part, but there remains hope that he'll get things better sorted out in the future. Motor-wise, he is getting better control of his head and from time to time will grasp toys that are presented to him at very close range.
Christopher is learning how to program his parents very well. Lately, he's been testing his powers of control by various means such as crying and swatting. This is usually only when he's very tired and moody, and he has learned that screaming and hitting mom and dad do not make things work the way he wants them to. On the other hand, he is also perhaps catching on that mom and dad will be the silliest people ever for a smile or some giggles.
Both boys love cuddles, and they are also getting some tummy time now. Christopher is getting really good at rolling to his side and sits up with just a little bit of propping. Of course, why work too hard to sit up when it's much more fun to dive and have someone catch you?
This past week, my very good friend, Meg, came to visit and loved hanging out with our boys. She was such a big help! Although, it was also great for us to get a little break away from the house, and Ian really enjoyed his boy-time at home.
This upcoming month we are planning a dedication service for Christopher and Corban at our church. It will be something separate from the regular service because they are still quite fragile, but we will have a time of fellowship afterwards. We are looking forward to sharing them with so many of you who have been praying diligently for them for so long. If you are in the area and would like to join us, please email me for information!
Here's a few more photos of our recent adventures....Enjoy!
